| From the General Overseer |
People who receive the Connections email news are interested in hearing what is going on in the COGOP. As I look around at the last few weeks, and even months, I realize there has been a flurry of activity that might interest Connections subscribers. Let me briefly note some of these: General Presbyters Meeting Many may not be aware that our General Presbyters meet together twice a year. Last week the GP's were at the International Office meeting with COGOP leadership as well as praying and discussing the future opportunities before us. One outstanding mark of those meetings were the inspired and intense seasons of prayer that flowed freely through the week. With prayer as one of our Core Values the General Presbyters modeled a passion for seeking God themselves last week. Leadership Development Institute A review of the evaluations from LDI show that nearly all of the pastors and leaders left this conference with fresh inspiration and solid insights for application in ministry. Certainly guest presenter Dr. Bryan Cutshall poured into pastors at every session of the week. Check our Tomlinson Center web pages for more post-conference information. West Africa Leadership Conference Recently our West Africa Leadership Conference was held. General Presbyter, Bishop Sherman Allen reports that a church planting leader from Togo came to this meeting to better understand the ministry of the Church of God of Prophecy. When he went home he shared with our Overseer of Benin that he wanted to bring his church network into the Church of God of Prophecy family. He leads over thirty churches with about 8,000 members. Center for Biblical Leadership in DRC In the last few weeks the CBL team spent nearly two weeks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo training leaders. In the capital, Kinshasa, they taught 160 key leaders, and in Lumumbashi they taught 114 leaders. Pray with Overseer Ntambwe Beya that these leaders will share the training over the nation, and we will see hundreds benefit from these schools. Many know the DRC is in the midst of surging harvest activity where leadership is the desperate need. Continental Leadership Conferences Over the last few months the Europe/CIS/Middle East area held its bi-annual Leadership Conference on the island of Cyprus, led by General Presbyter, Bishop Clayton Endecott. Also the Caribbean area held its bi-annual Leadership Conference in Nassau, Bahamas. Both conferences were rich in inspiration and information, and they had one significant activity in common. Prayer flowed abundantly and in liberty. It seems that this Core Value is being pressed forward throughout the church by the Holy Spirit himself. Who better to mobilize such a movement?
Daily Progress Remember as you pray for our church network that each day over 1,000 people receive Christ on average and two new churches are planted. The gospel is proclaimed through 14,000 preaching points in 130 nations of the world. Your prayers and mission giving make this progress possible among our global ministries. |
